Cars and vehicles these days are mostly incredible pieces of technology. Despite this, there’s often many parts of a car that could be improved in small ways. This is where car upgrades come into play. Upgrades can improve almost any aspect of your vehicle. Many people like to find upgrades which make their car more powerful or handle better. Some prefer upgrades to just alter the appearance to something more aligned with their desires. What’s great about car mods and upgrades is that there are usually some that can fit any person’s needs as well as their budget. This article is going to look at some of the many ways in which a person can upgrade their car. Some of these mods are expensive, while others are aimed at the budget modder. 

1 - Upgrade your Brake Pads

Brake pads seem like such a simple thing, but can really make a difference to a driver. Stopping faster allows a driver to move faster, as they are safer when they decide to hit the brakes. Also, consider that you’re going to be much safer overall with better brake pads that feel more responsive and stop the car quicker. A good set of brake pads can cost around $200, making it a very reasonable upgrade. While you’re doing that, you might want to consider upgrading your brake lines too. Stainless steel brake lines tend to be more responsive than rubber brake lines, again giving a driver a better sense of control. 

2 - Racing Seats 

If you’re your vehicle through its paces to any degree, then your body is expending a lot of energy. What is it doing? It’s just trying to keep itself in place! This is where race seats come in. They are specifically designed to help keep drivers (and passengers) exactly in place. This makes it easier to make quick adjustments when you’re driving or cornering tightly. It’s often a good idea to combine some sports seats with a racing harness seat belt system. That being said, you need to make sure that it’s one which complies with street legal laws on seat belts as many might not. 

3 - Custom Paint 

The look of a car can be changed in almost any way, and many people take advantage of this to come up with custom designs and paint jobs. If you’re using a professional (and you should be), this can quickly become an expensive change. Some people change the color of their car, but more often it’s accent work. Racing stripes and flames are common, as are pin stripes and two tone setups. It’s easy to go too far too quickly with paint jobs on a vehicle, so it’s good to know the line you’re not willing to cross. One consideration is using a matte paint job. It’s a pain to clean, but looks unique and exciting without being flashy and abrasive. 

4 - Superchargers and Turbochargers

While they do so in different ways, these car upgrades will give your vehicle a nice boost. They force additional air into the vehicle, which ends up creating more power. These are popular and legal upgrades that are also often offered on factory models as well. One downside is that you may end up seeing a change to your power curve as you’re accelerating. A change to the transmission tuning may be useful when adding a supercharger or turbocharger.
