Quite Simply, Some Cities Are Better for Renters Than Others Throughout The United States

main of Quite Simply, Some Cities Are Better for Renters Than Others Throughout The United States

It’s well known that the housing situation in the United States continues to evolve and become more expensive. Mortgages and rents are both on the rise and it’s become a problem for many people. That being said, there are many cities which are actually quite good for renters. In these locations, the average remnant is reasonable and the average size of a property is larger. Many cities have additional amenities that are beneficial to renters, which often includes excellent public transit. A good city for renters should start with the budget, and then be interesting, full of potential employment and have little crime. This article is going to look at several of the very best cities across the United States when it comes to renting.

1 - Raleigh, NC

People who live in North Carolina know how much fun Raleigh can be to visit, but may not realize that it’s a great place to be a renter right now. The average size of available 2 bedroom properties is over 1050 square feet. That’s bigger than many houses. The average rent for those comes in just over $1,500 per month. While that’s high for some people, they should remember that it's for a 2 bedroom place, so it can be split if needed with another occupant and there are certainly less expensive options and 1 bedroom choices. Raleigh also has a relatively low crime rate compared to many cities across the nation.

2 - Lincoln, NE

Lincoln is a fantastic city for renters for a variety of reasons. First off, the average price for a 2-bedroom place is just over $1,050. That’s impressively low compared to many other cities. The average size is just below 1050 square feet as well, so still plenty of room. Another great benefit is the sheer number of parks and green spaces that are located in Lincoln. Over 90% of rental locations are going to be within a 10 minute walk of a park or other green space. You can get outside, get some fresh air and enjoy the sun for a while. There’s really only one downside to Lincoln, and that’s pet rental spaces. Less than ⅔ of all properties allow pets, which is certainly lower than average.

3 - Henderson, NV

Henderson is one of the popular suburbs just outside of Las Vegas. Henderson has a pretty good overall median household income. Since it's over $70,000, it makes the average two bedroom rental price of $1,770+ more reasonable as it’s less than 30% of your income. In addition, Henderson rentals have a lot of great features. Apartments almost all have access to gyms, and whether in an apartment or home, over 50% of places will also have a pool! That’s perfect for those hot Nevada summers. Unlike Lincoln, Henderson is very welcoming of pets and around 90% of listings are pet friendly.

4 - Wichita, KS

Not everyone may want to live in Kansas, but if you’re on a budget, then Wichita is one of the best places any renter can head to. Wichita has one of the lowest (if not the lowest) rates for both one and two bedroom rentals. This makes it ideal for people on a budget. It should be noted that Wichita doesn’t have all the features, amenities and fun that some of the other cities on this list can boast. Despite this, the sheer prices of the rental units make it an option for many.
