As a society, we are living in the golden age of media. The amount of incredible movies and television shows means that there’s so much that it can’t even all be watched by a person. Of course, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try. In order to get the most out of entertainment, a person requires a high quality home theater. Most people think of a home theater as a nice television, but they are so much more than that. Having a good home theater will make the entire movie and TV experience more enjoyable and help bring a family and friends together to enjoy something they love together in comfort. This article will go over some of the common important aspects of a home theater.

1 - Television or Projector

Visuals are typically the most important part for any home theater setup. Most people will turn to a TV, and more specifically these days, a Smart TV. Getting a smart TV gets you immediate access to any and all streaming apps that you make use of, as well as some other direct internet products. Smart TVs are easy to use. However, not all TVs are created equal. You need to find one that fits with your room’s design. Some people are tempted to get the largest TV they can, but getting a more moderate sized one that fits the size of the room better can result in better visual quality. It’s important when choosing a television that you pick one which excels iny our viewing conditions. If you have a lot of windows in the home theater (not ideal, but it happens), then you want a TV that can do well in high light situations.

The other option is to get a projector. Projectors have come a long way and offer a much better quality than they once did. Projectors can be more difficult to set up (if you mount them to the ceiling) than televisions, but good projectors will allow you to adjust the size of the screen, and if you want to watch a movie on your entire wall, you can do so!

2 - Sound and Speakers

Sound is of course the second part of media that everyone wants to talk about. Good sound helps a person feel immersed into their favorite content. Most people with a serious home theater will turn to surround sound. This will be a system which has speakers throughout the room that work together in sync with each other. This can either mean that sound comes from all simultaneously, or they work asynchronously so that the sound comes only from the direction it would if the situation was real. This is especially useful to gamers. They can hear people sneaking up on them in competitive multiplayer games.

3 - Seating

Any home theater needs adequate seating. This is one area where each home theater can be a bit different from others. Some people prefer couches, some like lots of chairs with big armrests. The name of the game regardless is comfort. You want to make sure that you’re going to be sitting comfortably for multiple hours. Support is important as well, so no one stands up with a sore back. Finally, every seat needs a clear and proper view of the display. In large home theaters, this could mean elevating a second row of seating behind the first one so that everyone can get a clear view.

4 - Cabling and Power

This is an important part of a home theater that so many people forget about. Since you don’t directly look at the cables regularly, you may not recognize how important it can be. Cabling and power should start with a high quality surge protector. If you’re spending thousands of dollars on a home theater, why would you not try to protect it against potential power surges? From there, you need to figure out how much cabling you’ll need and how much can be wireless. A lot of people push for wireless everything, but sometimes it’s much cheaper to have a few cables. The key is planning on how you can bundle the cables to minimize their appearance.
