Dijon Vinaigrette

Dijon vinaigrette is a classic French dressing that is often used on salads. It is made up of olive oil, white wine vinegar, mustard, and seasonings that add flavor to the salad. Ingredients:

  • ½ cup of extra virgin olive oil, as preferred
  • ¼ cup of white wine (regular or dry) vinegar, as preferred
  • ¼ teaspoon of crushed Dijon mustard or 2 teaspoons of prepared mustard (choose the brand you like) or use the whole jar of prepared mustard to which you add the specified amount of salt and pepper.
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt, or to taste.

Place all the ingredients in a jar according to the instructions for making a vinaigrette. Set aside in a cool place for at least 12 hours before use. Shake it up before use.

This tasty salad dressing goes well with various salads and vegetable ingredients. You may use this dressing with any salad you like or create some great recipes. Vinaigrette can be prepared using the same ingredients in various ways, including minced garlic, ginger, thyme and parsley or any other herb or spice of their choice, to add a different flavor to their salad.

Caesar Dressing

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup of extra virgin olive oil, as preferred
  • 1 tablespoon of red wine vinegar (regular or dry) or balsamic vinegar.
  • ¼ teaspoon of garlic salt, or to taste
  • A dash of Worcestershire sauce (this is optional but adds a special tangy flavor which you can omit if you do not like it)
  • ½ cup of mayonnaise (you can add a reduced-fat version)
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, as preferred
  • Fresh ground pepper and salt to taste.

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl. This can also be prepared in a blender. But if you use the traditional mixing method, ensure you mix all the ingredients thoroughly. Caesar dressing goes perfectly well with Romaine lettuce leaves or any other leafy green varieties. If you want to add crunch to their salad, add the croutons of their choice.

Asian Sesame Dressing

Asian sesame dressing is a tasty salad dressing with an Asian flavor that has been popular in the West for quite some time now.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup of dark sesame oil or ½ cup of extra virgin olive oil, as preferred
  • ¼ cup of rice vinegar or ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar (can be replaced with white wine vinegar), as preferred
  • 1 teaspoon of grated ginger (you can make it fresh by peeling the skin and then using a blender to process it finely)
  • 2 teaspoons of grated garlic (you can make it fresh by peeling the skin and then using a blender to process it finely. Alternatively, use a jar of garlic or garlic powder).
  • 1 teaspoon of grated lemon zest (this adds a special flavor)
  • 2 teaspoons of sea salt or, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon of sesame seeds.

The dressing works best with salad greens and some vegetables. The carrots may be cooked before eating since when they are not fresh, they may become very soggy when exposed to too much dressing.
